The Commission Process

Commissions are a wonderful opportunity to create something special for you or someone you love. Maybe it’s a special place that you love to visit, your favorite beach growing up, or a location where a special moment happened. Or perhaps you missed out on a particular piece in one of my collections released and would like something similar made in a different size or orientation, or with a slightly different color scheme? I would love to work with you to create something really special.

Size

The first thing is to decide the best size canvas for your custom project.
If you are unsure of the perfect size for your space, I’m happy to help you decide!

Inspiration

I appreciate any inspiration you can provide - any photographs, landscapes, or locations you would like me to work from. What particular paintings of mine do you favor? (take a peek at my Instagram for inspiration too!) Any Pinterest boards, color palettes, etc. that you love.

The more insight, the better!

Sketch

I start with a few oil sketch options for your piece, to give you an idea of what I had in mind and make sure we are on the same page.  Once I have your approval, the oil painting begins. 

Pricing

My prices for commissions are based on size. Compared to my ready-to-ship collection paintings, they run about 20% more to account for the time spent putting together a cohesive piece that meets all of your custom wishes.  I request a 50% non-refundable deposit to begin, with the remaining balance, plus shipping, due once your painting is complete.

Completion Time

At this point, I typically allow for 4-10 weeks for the completion of each piece (depending on size) and slightly longer during the holiday season. I will be in contact with you regularly during the process to let you know what stage I’m working on and provide you with pictures if you wish.
